I am currently an Education Developer for the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, working on supporting curricula for academic integrity, professional ethics, and graduate student development.
I am also currently a part-time faculty member, teaching in the graduate program in Library and Information Science in the Faculty of Information and Media Studies at Western University.
Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is guided primarily by andragogical principles: adults learn most effectively by being self-direct learners as much as possible, taking responsibility for their learning and being intrinsically motivated to learn. I encourage my students to rely on their own previous experience and interests as a way to contextualize and improve the learning that they engage in.
I believe that professional practice without critical reflection of said practice is open to problems. I emphasize to my students of Library and Information science the benefits of being scholar-practitioners. I help them hone not only their knowledge of the discipline but, additionally, the conventions of scholarly communication.
I am committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion in my curricula and teaching and encourage in my classroom for students to seek ways to make meaningful contributions to these ends.
